Nice view of the Acropolis. Why did you want to see it, and was the experience what you had hoped for?

I wanted to see the Acropolis because I was a tourist in Athens for a couple days and it's the sight to see. How would I answer people when I said I'd been to the city but didn't do the hill?
The experience offered some tidbits I hadn't thought of when I studied the place in textbooks. What sticks out most was the stone under my feet: worn so smooth from thousands of years of millions of feet. Of all the indications we study to try and understand civilizations past, smooth boulders offered me the most appreciation.
