The Wedding Invite Network
So I move around a lot and to keep things simple I get much of my mail sent to Tyler's on West 7th Ave.
And I'm expecting this wedding invite to arrive from Alistair any day now, All-Star being one of my closest friends, he's getting married in August and I even seen the envelopes before they were mailed and now everyone is getting theirs but mine has not arrived for some reason even though it went out.
But an email does, arrive, from Pattie, a woman I've never heard of who says she has a wedding invite at her home minus a corner that Lucy, a small dog of hers that doesn't like the new mailman, has chewed off and Lucy and Pattie live at the same address as Tyler but ten blocks south i.e. on West 17th Ave.
And I'm not sure how she got my email, Pattie (Googled me?), but the story gets a little tighter because Pattie tells me (in this original email) about telling a co-worker at City Hall about how little Lucy eats mail, including a particularly large envelope (my invite) the day before. And this co-worker happens to have the same envelope (well his has a complete set of four corners)--i.e. he has been invited to the same wedding--but that's no surprise because co-worker has the same last name as the bride. As in--I deduce independently--the co-worker is a complete relative of Lisa. And thus so the related-to-Lisa co-worker gets on the phone with his sister-in-law Patti* (note the lack of e on the end compared to Pattie with the mail-hating canine) and I guess mentions what Pattie-with-an-e just told him and confirms, in Pattie's email's words to me:
What a small world it is.
A few calls later and apparently Patti with an i, who must be in charge of the invitations or something, is sending out a new invite "that hopefully will arrive in a perfect bite free envelope" to the correct address, i.e. Tyler's** on West 7th Avenue.
* The whole same-last-name thing is confusing here because if Pattie-with-an-e's co-worker really has the same last name as the bride and said co-worker is for fact a man then he's gotta be a blood relative but then why is he phoning up a non-blood realtive but with the same surname and...oh wait I just got it: Patti-with-an-i married into the Sweeney family and is thus a sister-in-law and never mind I am an idiot.
** I didn't even tell Tyler about this whole envelope debacle (entirely my fault, the debacle, because for sure I told Alistair and Lisa the wrong address, something so typically me to do and not double check) and yet Ty-Guy totally already knew about this story through his good friend Mike who is yet another relative (I know for sure) of Lisa's with same last name and man this family really communicates.

Mike is my cousin, the son of the guy who works at City Hall with Pattie-with-an-E.
Too many weird connections to mention.

Wow, and I thought that my getting my invite mailed to my parents house was convoluted.
I could see that happening in Victoria, but Vancouver.....
Lisa should point out that she's got like fifteen aunts and uncles. It's fun remembering all their names.

And in other crazy news, that MIA bike pump you had left in Eileen's house for 6 months, and then found, is now sitting on my coffee table. And you wonder why you have so many of your blog entries on missing or "stolen" stuff ;)
PS, the plants are still holding on for dear life.
