Crunchy or Smooth?

I just answered an Unknown Caller phone call from a man I don't know and he immediately asks me: "Crunchy or smooth, Rob?"

Because my name is Jeff and I do not recognize the voice I reply, "Beg your pardon?" He repeats the question.

"Crunchy or smooth peanut butter?"

"Erm, crunchy." Which is an outright lie because I actually like smooth.

"OK, what kind?" the man asks. I think I can hear grocery store noises in the background.

"Adams."

"Adams?"

"Yup."

"OK. Bye."

Looks like a man named Rob is getting crunchy Adams peanut butter tonight.

In other news I return to the Emily Carr Institute tomorrow to begin my second year of studies, my first for Industrial Design.

I am now moved into my new house in Kitsilano, which is a very nice middle-class neighbourhood in Vancouver. It is a 10 minute bike ride from school. I live at 7th and Larch. I am also working part time this term doing web design for a number of local firms.

This summer I visited my friend Tony in Halifax for the first time and then my friends Alistair and Lisa in Montreal. I also went sailing a bit with Scott and was a groomsman at two of my best friends' weddings. A few weeks ago my brother and I rented a car to visit the Moms in Nelson. When I got back I helped organize the First Year Orientation / Welcome at school, which was fun.

How was your summer, and what are you doing this fall?

Good peanut butter pick. I've gone organic these days, but I still have a soft spot in my heart for Adam's Crunchy. Smooth is good, too.

There's something insanely delicious about Maranatha's Organic Peanut Butter (I only buy crunchy). They even do weird exotic peanut butters, like one with the honey already pre-mixed. They are really pushing the peanut butter envelope in my opinion. I see the Maranatha jars popping up all over town, but Drive Organics (near Britannia) on Commercial Drive seems to have the most complete range of Maranatha products in Vancouver.

I worked all summer. Most evenings I played with my 1.75 year old daughter. On August 29th, I moved to Toronto! I'll be living here for eight months while my wife attends her first year of midwifery at Ryerson University. I'll continue working my old Vancouver job, but now I'll work from home.

Adams all the way. I'm sure "Rob" will be very happy.

Smooth > Crunchy... but I don't like peanut butter, so I would have told him jam :(

Anyways, my summer consisted of painting houses, painting murals (if you've seen the big bright green 'Wa2' mural on Powell, it was me), painting pictures for my show.. and the rest was a blur due to excesive drinking/partying, none of which I regret. As for Fall, taking a leave of absence from ECIAD for a yearm, working hard until Christmas and then moving to Australia (or there abouts) to live 'til September...

So have fun in classes everyone, don't work too hard, and I'll see y'all in a good 12 months.
