Faith in Numbers

An outlaw faith healer with sock monkeys for the kids

Was the status message on Cat's gChat and I thought to myself I like the sound of that. Google brought me to In/Words 5.2, a Carleton U. student publication and prose by Rich Terfry. I read the whole thing and there was that same line. And more.

And I asked Cat, I typed, "Where did you get that line from?
"Buck 65 lyrics...50 Gallon Drum"
Which was weird because that was the title of the prose from Carleton U's In/Words 5.2 I tell Cat.
"A carleton student ripping off buck, or vice versa?"
"Rich Terfry..."
"Is Buck 65!" types back Cat.

A Series of Fortunate Connections

It turns out I listened to a bit of 69 Love Songs last week by The Magnetic Fields who, it turns out, revolves around Stephin Merritt, meaning there are many artists who perform and record with him including one Daniel Handler, accordionist and aka children's author Lemony Snicket.

Daniel Handler writes stuff for adults too. I kinda liked the Basic Eight when I read it. But I only really picked it up after I saw a recommendation from Stephin Merritt, not realizing until after what connection they had.
